Jenny had her baby boy...

I'll leave all the details for Jenny to talk about when she gets back online, but I just thought I'd let you know (for those of you who know Jenny) she had her baby today and they're both doing fine. The only bit of info I'll share - he was 9 pounds 11 ounces!!!

Congratulations, Jenny! I know it wasn't easy, but you did it! You're a trooper!

Mommy moments...

Since the start of the year, I've had several mommy moments with both kids, but I've been so busy dealing with everyone being sick that I haven't had a chance to talk about them. Let's see if I can get through this without Macho waking up from his nap.

First mommy moment: Macho said "mama" for the first time on his birthday. It was so adorable and I just melted. Of course, now the moment is gone and when he says mama, I get annoyed 'cause he asks for me All The Time! But still, at least he's talking.

Second mommy moment: Beauty started preschool. I remember getting her ready and putting her little backpack on. It was at that moment I realized just how much she's grown. Then when I took her to class and I had to leave her, I almost felt like I couldn't do it. I just wanted to stay there with her, but I knew I had to let go and let her grow up.

Third mommy moment: Beauty got her first Valentine cards on Valentine's Day. In preschool, all the kids made valentine cards to give to each other. She came home with a bag filled with cards and candy. I don't know why that was so special for me, it just was.

Fourth mommy moment: Macho finally learned how to pull himself up, so he should be walking soon. The reason this was so great is because one morning I went into the nursery to get Macho out of bed. When I walked in, there was a little head popping up over the side of the crib and when he saw me, he gave me the biggest smile. It was so adorable! =) Everytime he smiles at me, I can't help but smile too.

Fifth mommy moment: Beauty made a friend. You should know first that I when I take her to school, I have to take her around back where the school buses bring some of the other kids in her class. I do this because she gets upset if I take her in towards the front. There's a little playground right at the main door of the classroom and if she sees it, all she wants to do is play. So, I bring her to the other side and the teachers meet us there when they come out to pick up the kids from the bus. This past Tuesday, Beauty and I were waiting while the teachers got the other kids. There was one boy who came off the bus and was placed in line behind Beauty. When she saw him, she gave a big smile and said, "Hee," which is her word for hi. He smiled back at her. It was just the cutest thing I'd ever seen! Two little kids looking at each other and smiling.

Hope you enjoyed my mommy moments. I'm looking forward to having more of those =)

First the good news...

We're not all sick anymore. Yay! Well, that's it for the good news, now here's the bad news: Macho has RSV.

Remember how we thought he caught the same infection that Beauty had? Turns out he had a double ear infection, not a respiratory infection. I noticed that after a day of having antibiotics, Macho wasn't doing any better, so I took him to an Instacare Saturday evening. They tested him for RSV and sure enough, that's what he has. What does this mean? It means that for a total of 3 weeks, he will have a very congested/drippy nose, a heavy cough and difficulty breathing (which I have to monitor closely). For once, can't my kids just catch a regular cold? I think that since Beauty was born until now, I've only experienced one regular cold between the two of them.

I haven't been sleeping well at all since both the kids have been going back and forth with various illnesses. Hopefully tonight I can catch up on some sleep.

We're all sick now...Yay!

To try to keep my blog a bit more upbeat, here are some recent photos of Beauty and Macho. They're probably the only ones you'll see since I'm working on putting all my photos on a new photo album site. (This will take me a long while, so be patient)

So, instead of being annoyed at the fact that we're all sick now (including Husband), I'm just going to laugh about it. Ha Ha Ha....

I don't know anyone else with worse luck and that's just how things are for me. We always seem to have it worse than anyone else I know in the health department, but maybe it just seems that way 'cause we've all been sick for the majority of the year. I just have to laugh about it, because really, it's just the darndest luck! Plus, maybe if I start laughing about this and just ride it out, Heavenly Father will reward me by not letting anyone in our family get sick for the rest of the year. How great would that be?!

Scales are mean...

They remind you just how big you are and that you're nowhere near your target weight goal. After I had Beauty, it was so easy to shed the weight. I even lost extra weight and was the skinniest I've been since I was a teenager. I loved it; I bought new clothes and form-fitting jeans. Naturally, after I had Macho, I wanted to lose the weight just as quickly as I did the first time, and I thought I could lose a little bit extra too. Boy was I wrong!

Macho totally messed me up. My hips are wider, my stomach is bigger, and my metabolism isn't what it used to be. All I want to do is lose the baby weight from Macho, but it seems the "weight-loss gods" are against me. I've been trying to lose the weight for the past 4 months, but nothing seems to work. Then, I figured out one of the problems - my new medication for Fibromyalgia causes weight gain. Oy! Then, when I got the respiratory infection a few weeks ago, I was given 4 new medicines - ALL of them cause weight gain! That means for 2 weeks, I was taking 5 medications that made me tack on more weight faster than I thought possible. In ten days, I gained 10 pounds - that's a pound a day!!! Ahh!!

Now that I'm done taking those other medicines, I have to start playing catch up. I've got a lot more weight to lose than I did before and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to do it. I mean, I've already cut so many things out of my diet and I don't eat large portions. Plus, I don't eat sweets or sugary things. The unhealthiest snack we have in the house are cheesesticks and goldfish crackers. I think the only thing I can do differently is drink more water. Maybe that'll help.

Anyway, I'd like to know if anyone out there has some weight loss secret I don't know about. If you've got any tips for me, let me know!

Picking up where I left off...

Beauty, of course, got an infection from this last cold she had. I feel solely responsible though. She caught a respiratory infection and who had a respiratory infection very recently? Me. So yeah, I feel completely responsible for her getting sick. And of course, Macho was right behind her. Officially today, the doctor declared that he too has an infection, so both the kids are now on antibiotics. Technically, Macho's first dose will be tonight, but it'll make a huge difference right away. So yay to me for getting my kids sick. (way to go, mom)

Awesome Husband is the only one not yet affected by all this and hopefully it stays that way. Him getting sick is like having another sick child on my hands (no offense, Hubby). Wives out there, you know what I mean. I'm just hoping that we can kick these germs out of our house soon so they'll stop bouncing from person to person.

Since we've moved into this new home, we've had a lot of big expenses pop up; new bed and mattress for Beauty, new futon for my mom to sleep on, new furnace 'cause the old one started leaking gas, a new fridge, new furniture for various rooms (totally necessary), and there have been other miscellaneous expenses. Why do I bring this up? Because about 1 1/2 months ago, Beauty decided her diaper was bothering her when she woke up, so she took it off. This wouldn't be a big deal if she were potty trained, but since she's still not ready for that, she has to have a diaper on. Well, as soon as she took off her diaper, she "went" all over her brand new mattress. Needless to say the mattress is now ruined and we have to buy another one. Go figure that she would do this on her brand new mattress.

We can't afford another one at the moment, so I've been spraying Lysol and Febreeze on it so it won't stink or get bacteria growing on it. We would've bought a plastic mattress cover for it, but they don't make those in twin sizes. We also can't afford a new mattress for ourselves right now either. We need to get a new one because the support on it is shot, so when I lay down I don't have the back support I need. This means I wake up with my back extremely sore (not good for a person with Fibromyalgia).

So yeah, it's just so funny how you can "plan" for more expenses when buying a new home, but you're never really prepared for everything that happens in the new home. Ironic how these things never happened in our old place, and it's funny how these miscellaneous expenses are never ending. In the end though, I'm glad we have this house to live in, even if it is sucking all our money away. =)
